Christopher Muyshondt, MD began his path in medicine as an EMT-B on a 911 ambulance crew in Austin, Texas, and later as a trauma technician at a Level One trauma center. A graduate of the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and a 2026 Emergency Medicine residency applicant, he trained across NHS hospitals in the UK, clinics in the Dominican Republic, and hospitals in Chicago and New York during his final year.
He served as an EMT on a Project C.U.R.E. clinic trip to Guatemala in 2026 and will return as a physician provider in 2027. He serves as Vice President of Medicine in Mission, helping lead international medical clinics and coordinate the organization's expansion into Latin America. Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish, he has provided patient care across multiple countries.

Dr. Muyshondt built his path toward emergency medicine through hands-on roles in prehospital care, high-acuity trauma, and diverse clinical rotations.
Trauma TechnicianLevel One Trauma Center
Christopher worked as a Trauma Technician at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, the only adult Level I Trauma Center in the 11-county Central Texas region and the primary teaching hospital for Dell Medical School. Operating within a high-volume emergency department, he supported the trauma team during resuscitations, performing CPR, phlebotomy, wound care, and splinting and casting. This role gave him early, hands-on exposure to acute trauma care and the pace of a high-acuity ED, shaping his interest in emergency medicine well before medical school.
EMT-BAustin-Travis County EMS
Christopher worked as an EMT-B with Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), a third-service agency that operates independently of the fire department and provides 911 emergency medical response across a 1,300-square-mile area serving over 1.4 million residents. Operating on a dual Paramedic/EMT ambulance, he conducted patient interviews, delivered EMT-B level care, and transported patients throughout the Austin metropolitan area. This prehospital experience reinforced his interest in emergency medicine from the earliest point of patient contact.
Emergency Medicine RotationsMedical School
Christopher completed his final-year emergency medicine rotations at three hospitals across the New York and Chicago metro areas. Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, is a Level I Trauma Center whose ED sees more than 75,000 patients yearly. Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago is one of four Level I adult Trauma Centers in the city, with an ED handling roughly 100,000 visits annually. His final rotation was in the Pediatric ED at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, New York, the only dedicated pediatric ED on Long Island's South Shore.
